Scotland "Scottie" Nash
Scottie Nash has worked in public education and education support services for over 15 years. She was a high school social studies teacher, as well as an education director, instructional leader, adjunct professor and consultant in both the Chicago area and in Seattle. Scottie earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership from Seattle University. As a teacher, she was nominated for Disney Teacher of the Year award and Golden Apple, and earned multiple superintendent and principal accolades and awards for her instruction and collaboration. While working in the Seattle Public Schools district office, she facilitated district initiatives in curriculum alignment, materials adoption, and implementing the ELA Common Core.
Scottie currently coaches teachers to use a variety of disciplinary literacy strategies to provide all students with the opportunity to meet the high expectations of being college and career ready. As a consultant, she supports public schools and districts in effectively utilizing new teacher evaluation systems (Danielson), implementing common core, and building strong PLC structures. She teaches principal candidates models of effective instruction at Seattle University and was named an ASCD Emerging Leader in 2014.
